Howard and Lena Strickler move to Cobb Mountain.
In the early 1900's they began to board visitors with their children including Carl Strickler.
Carl married his wife Grace and began to raise a family which included Don. In the 1930's Carl began to build the majority of the cabins as Cobb Mountain became a destination for Bay area residents to come and stay. This was the Start of Whispering Pines Resort. Carl and Grace ran the resort for many years before their son, Don Strickler, took over.
After Don Strickler returned from serving in World War II, he and Carl began to build the log cabins in the resort. The logs were harvested from Cobb and hand hued. Carl and Don also hand dug the first swimming pool at Whispering Pines Resort. In the early 1950's Don married Madeline and continued to run the resort with their two children Donna and Steve. Over the years they continued operating and maintaining the resort while making many additions and improvements.
In the late 1980's Don and Madeline's son, Steve, began to take over the resort with his wife Michaela and their two children.
They continue to make improvements and upgrades to this day.
